# Easy “Read More” for posts

 * I am new to WordPress and plodding my way through a website for my daughters
   arts magnet school.
    We have 6 different choirs and I am working with the directors
   to catagorize their posts to specific groups so we can then list those posts
   on choir specific pages.
 * Frequently the posts can be long and once that happens the kids and parents aren’t
   scrolling down to get to the remainder. I am looking for an easy (read, the directors
   need to be able to do this) way to insert code in their posts so that it only
   displays the first sentence until you hit “Read More”. (or something like this)
 * I have a couple work around methods (hotlinks, etc) but none of them provide
   the ability to set the category of the post and have it auto populate into specific
   pages.
 * I’ve looked at some of the plug ins, but get very overwhelmed with the code.
   And if I can’t figure it out, then it will be a disaster for the directors.
 * Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you Richard

 * Hello Richard,
 * This should be able to do the trick and built right into WordPress so no need
   for extra coding [https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/](https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/)
 * Let me know if that helps,
    Sage

 * Well – that couldn’t be more simple! And sitting right there the whole time.
   Thank you.
    See, I told I was new to this!
 * OK – perhaps you can help with another challenge.
    When we create posts and edit
   pages, the system seems to be set to double space every time you hit enter. Regardless
   if you have selected Paragraph or Header 1. The only way for text to be sent
   to the next line down is to keep typing and as it wraps, it drops down. But in
   some situations I need to be able to group short sentences together.
 * Tell me this another easy – right there in front of my face solution!!??
 * Thank you so much!
    Richard

 * Hey Richard,
 * Glad to be of assistance!
 * As for your paragraph issue, if you just hold the shift key while pressing enter
   then that should drop the text to the next direct line instead of making a whole
   new paragraph for it.
 * If your question has been answered, we would love if you would mark this topic
   as resolved in the right hand sidebar. This helps our volunteers find the topics
   that still need attention and more people will get helped, possibly like you
   did.
 * Thanks,
    Sage

 * Now you’re just making me feel foolish!
    I was looking in the style sheet for
   the template thinking I had to make a change there.
 * I guess I need to get myself into a WordPress class for dummies!
 * Thank you so much! Really appreciate the help.

 * Aw no, we all start somewhere! WordPress is great to work with once you get over
   the learning curve. There’s tons of helpful tutorials online as well as this
   forum should you have any further questions. You’ll get the hang of it in no
   time!
