I am running Easy Modal 2.0.9.

After the upgrade, Easy Modal reverted to the default settings for the Theme.

I cannot save any changes to the Theme now – for all tabs – the menus let me make changes, but when I hit the Save button, it reverts instantly back to the default settings.

I have a staging server running Easy Modal 1.3.0.3 and that version seems to work perfectly.

Should I downgrade to version 1.3.0.3? Or is there a workaround for version 2.0.9 that will solve this problem?

I am pushing an update tonight that will fix the migration issues. I will also add some buttons to force clearing and re importing which should fix it.

I did the update. I am now running v2.0.10 on WordPress 3.9.2.

Unfortunately, the problem is not resolved. I still cannot save ANY changes (fonts, colors, etc) to the Theme. I can make changes, but when I hit SAVE, the system reverts to defaults.

Any ideas? Easy Modals is perfect for my application – simple and easy to use and it has the functionality I need. I’d really rather not switch, but I must be able to make simple changes to the Theme.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey hugh,

Did you try the reset and import buttons on the settings page. This will reset and reimport your old modals. If everything is working after that there will be an approve button that will clear old settings from the database.

    (@hughrheinsohn)

OK – I did that and now I can alter and save the Theme settings!

I am NOT seeing any sort of “Approve” button on the Settings page. Should I be seeing that?

However, there is another, more serious problem. Now none of the Modals work.

I have deactivated and re-activated the plugin with no results.

I have purged all caches (we are hosted by WPEngine) with no results.

I can’t see anything different about the configuration of Easy Modal between the Staging Server (where it works perfectly, running version 1.3.0.3 of the plugin) and the live server (where it is not functioning at all since I did the reset and reimport using version 2.0.10.)

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for your help!

Should I perhaps uninstall, reinstall, and then rebuild all my Modals? (I hope not, since this will be a lot of tedious work, but it is possible to do.)

Hmm. It looks like the ids got changed somehow. We specifically built the import to not do that. The button on your home page points to modal 12, but i dont see that one loaded. Is 12 correct id?

    (@hughrheinsohn)

Hmmm… I changed the “Schedule A Demo” to just link to the Contact page yesterday since the modals we’re working. This is the code I replaced with the simple redirect:

    <p style=”text-align: right;”><button class=”eModal-3″>SCHEDULE A DEMO</button></p>

Where are you seeing modal 12?

If you look at this page: http://thinktank.net/case-studies/

You’ll see the problem I am seeing. All of the case studies on this page point to different modals. But none of them work – there is no popup at all.

I don’t think the gravity form or modal IDs got messed up. When I check the code on the page, it’s still correct, and the modals look correct as well.

What about this “Approve” button you mentioned in the thread above? I do not see that anywhere on the Settings page (after doing the reset and reload processes.) ?

    Thanks for your help!

Approve button will shortly be renamed confirm your settings were imported and working successfully.

Clicking it will make it impossible to reset and import again. By deleting your old versions data cleaning out the db.

I will check out your link when I get to a PC. But in that page if you edit it and scroll down below the content editor to easy modal setting section are the modals in question checked? Or even in the list? If they are there but not checked. Check them and save.

I’m not seeing any button called “Approve” or “Confirm Your Settings” or anything like that anywhere in the Easy Modal control panels.

On the content page, there is a section called “Easy Modal” at the bottom of the page, but there is no information in the section. The only words I see are “Easy Modal”. There is no other text, no settings, no checkboxes, no list of Modals on the page – nothing at all except a section called “Easy Modal”.

Maybe the database is corrupted somehow. ?

    Thanks again for your help!

I restored a version of the site from before I did the update to Easy Modal and the modals are working again, except I’m back to the original problem that started this thread – I cannot save any changes to the Theme.

I am now running Easy Modal v2.0.8 on WordPress 3.9.2.

To restate the issue, I cannot save any changes to the Theme using v2.0.8. For all tabs, the menus let me make changes, but when I hit the Save button, it reverts instantly back to the default settings.

I checked the Pages containing Modals again (while running Easy Modal v2.0.8) and, at the bottom of the content page, there is a section called “Easy Modal”, but there is no information in the section. The only words I see are “Easy Modal”. There is no other text, no settings, no checkboxes, no list of Modals on the page – nothing at all except an empty section called “Easy Modal”.

If I update to v2.0.10, I can make changes to the theme, but (as noted above) the modals stop working altogether – there are no Popups.

So the site is working again but not working very well. Since I cannot style the Modals Theme, they don’t look good. I still need to find a solution.

If I have to, I can rebuild all the Modals – perhaps that will be the only solution. (Deactivate, uninstall, reinstall, rebuild from scratch.) But I am hoping to avoid that.

    I appreciate all your help!

OK thanks. I’ll check and see if the forthcoming update (I assume it will be v2.0.11) resolves the issue and let you know.

Hey Hugh, if you have time would you be willing to either test the new version or give me access to do so. I have sent out 8 test copies and have not gotten back one confirmation or report yet so im hesitant to release until i know its fixed.

I will be very happy to test it!

The update to 2.0.11 fixed this issue and everything is working perfectly now!
