  • Someone within our organization is determined to have our content readable on mobile phones. Is there an easy way to accomplish this in WP, without altering the way the site looks on regular screens?

  • Yes, you use an alternate CSS file, which you then call from the main program if you detect a mobile browser. Since there really aren’t that many mobile browsers it’s not that hard to do.

If it’s a modern WAP browser it should detect XHTML statements like <?xml-stylesheet href=”mobile.css” media=”handheld” type=”text/css” ?> added into your header and would then use the proper css file. The really important bit though is the media=”handheld” which can be added to regular stylesheet link statements also to force the browser to use a mobile css profile.

Thanks … are there any good, boilerplate, ready-to-go, mobile-friendly CSS files to be downloaded anywhere?

I don’t know about ready-made stuff… but the search works!
