Support » Installing WordPress » earthlink as host

  • I’ve followed the install directions to the best of my ability but am still getting errors when I try to load word press. I don’t know if it’s an error on my part or if it’s on my providers end..

    I’m using Earthlink as my hosting company and when I ask tech support, they claim to support wordpress. However, their tech support is pretty crappy and even when I ask specific questions about php, mySQL versions, they do not answer me, they just say, yes we support wordpress.

    How can I tell if they meet the requirements without having to rely on tech support to tell me??

    Is anyone familiar enough with crappy earthlink to know if they meet the requirements?

    I’m probably being lazy by not switching providers, it might be time.

    if ( 0 === strpos($_SERVER[‘REQUEST_URI’], ‘http’) ) {
    wp_redirect(preg_replace(‘|^http://|’, ‘https://’, $_SERVER[‘REQUEST_URI’]));

    // Don’t index any of these forms
    add_filter( ‘pre_option_blog_public’, create_function( ‘$a’, ‘return 0;’ ) );
    add_action( ‘login_head’, ‘noindex’ );

    if ( empty($wp_error) )
