I use Wordfence on many sites (>50) and it is a terriffic help. However, there seems to be a small problem with the e-mail reporting functions. I had dismissed the Wordfence Activity Reports (Email Summary) on all sites, and now I get those reports in my e-mail from almost all sites. Looks like that setting has been changed by an update. Also the setting “Alert me when someone with administrator access signs in” which I had disabled on almost every site is now enabled on almost every site and I receive e-mail reports telling me a user with administrater role has logged into site xxx.

Any clue as to how this could happen?

  • A recent update had a bug which did reset certain settings, some details here.

Would recommend to review all WordFence settings on all sites, also outside of reporting section…

@wpwebbouw: Ov3rfly is correct — checkboxes that were enabled on default installations were reset on existing installations in a recent version during the update process, but the problem has been fixed in the latest version. We are sorry for the inconvenience, and have added measures in our processes to prevent similar problems in future releases.

Ok, I see. Accidents happen. Good to know you have pinpointed the cause and thanks for your reply. I will check the installations I manage.
