# E-mail problem with WP Mail SMTP, Gmail SSL, and WAMP

 * I just tested ContactForm7.
    But when I submit the messsage I get an error message
   saying
 * “Error when sending the message. Try to resend later or contact your administrator
   in another way”
 * I think my e-mail configuration is not yet in place (PHP or SMTP).
    I already
   tried to configure it using the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin without success, when I test
   it I get the following error message: “SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server:
   Unable to find the socket transport “ssl” – did you forget to enable it when 
   you configured PHP?” Do you have any idea of the reason? How do I have to configure
   the e_mail?

 * First thanks to the PHP French administrators for their help.
    Two things: 1)
   In the WordPress WP-Mail-SMTP plugin you cannot use the Gmail SSL and authentication,
   apparently not supported in Wamp PHP server or not compatible with Gmail server(
   even it works in SMTP MS Outlook), 2) Meaning that you should use another SMTP
   server, then I changed it and I used my Internet SMTP provider (which is smtp.
   free.fr for me) without SSL and authentication. Now it works!!!!! I know that
   looking at forums a lot of people have problems on sending mails via WP plugins
   like cformsII or contact form 7 or others usually without responses . Then I 
   hope this will help them.

 * by any chance did they say why it won’t work with google ssl? I use smtp ms outlook
   with google and my iphone all the time.

 * I’m the WP Mail SMTP plugin developer. I’ve seen reports of people getting the
   plugin to work with Gmail SMTP (which require SSL I believe). However, I’m not
   sure if that’s the case on Windows, it may only be on Linux. If you want to search

 * Hello Callum,
 * I hope you might receive these replies. I have just posted a problem on the main
   Troubleshooting forum as I installed the WP Mail SMTP plugin to try to get it
   to work for a contact form for a Windows server installation.
 * The plugin did not work, but unfortunately has now messed up my WP mail sending.
   I did set the plugin back to mail() before disabling and uninstalling it. But
   the problem persists and my mail function is no longer functioning (I get no 
   notifications of comments etc.) I depend on it also for Subscribe2 to send out
   notices to my subscribers of new postings.
 * Is there anything you can suggest that I do to correct this problem please?
