 * Hi,
 * I read the WP E-commerce Plugin is only compatible up to: 2.1
    I’m using 2.3.3
 * I wish to build an online store with 100s of items using PayPal. I need to display
thumbnails of the items plus enlarged images with their descriptions and prices.

The site owner must be able to add, edit or delete items using the admin panel
   without knowing html.
 * Is this the best plugin to use or is there a better one?
    (Threads from the forum
point to lack of tech support…true?)
 * Thanks

 * I am in the same boat as you. I down loaded the free version – with the intent
that if I liked it, got it to work etc- that I would then upgrade to a paid version.
 * well… I cant get the images to display. And the pay button does not work. So
I went on this forum and their own forum and everywhere I look the problem with
shopping cart via paypal is unresolved. I have not found ONE POST or FAQs or
INSTRUCTION- WITH THE ANSWERS and lots of people seem to be asking.
 * I am presently doing a search to see if there is any answers about anything…
It does not incline me to continue. Who needs to put time into building a huge
shop – if people cant pay- and it might bust and then I’d have to start all over……
 * So let me know what you find out!

 * I’m using the same plugin. I got [mine](http://samnabi.com/wordpress/merch/)
to work, but it was very finicky and hard to set up.
 * Unfortunately there aren’t a whole lot of good ecommerce plugins. [YAK for WordPress](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/yak-for-wordpress/)
is one I’m considering trying out. It associates products with posts or pages.
When I’ve had a chance to try it out, I’ll post again.

 * Tried YAK. The short answer: I’d stick with WP e-Commerce, despite its imperfections.
 * YAK has no support whatsoever, even less than WP e-Commerce. It’s a breeze to
get all the settings laid out (there’s just one settings screen in the admin
panel), but it goes downhill from there.
 * To create products in YAK, you need to make a post and assign some sort of special
tag to it so that the plugin knows it’s a product. I couldn’t get past this hurdle,
it seems like you need a pretty good handle on PHP to get this plugin to work
   for you.
 * The other disadvantage of this method is that your products get jumbled in with
your posts. This wouldn’t sit well with a store that has 100s of items, like
   you mentioned above.
 * WP e-Commerce is definitely more user-friendly and easier to set up, so it looks
like I’m sticking with that one for now.

 * Bit late to the party, but I’d just like to dispute the fact that YAK has no
support. The fact that I’m fielding a couple of requests for help a week (on
average), and the General comments page has a couple of hundred messages tends
to point to ever-so-slightly-more than “no support whatsoever”.
 * Adding the custom tags to create products was never a particularly onerous task,
but still the latest version removes that requirement.
 * If you know how to configure WordPress, there’s no need to products to get jumbled
in with your posts, so I’m afraid I have to disagree with your second point as
   well.

 * [@jrbriggs](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jrbriggs/): Glad to hear YAK
is being supported! Have suggested the plugin to one or two others after finding
out about it even though I haven’t tried it myself, but was always a little concerned
that support might not be available even though it seemed to be actively developed.
   Thanks 🙂

 * It’s definitely actively developed. I would say however, that at times, it’s “
sluggishly” developed. I do go through stretches where I don’t have any time
   to work on new features.
 * On the support front, I intend to add commercial support in the (near) future(
for those who are bothered by the lack).

 * quickshop is a similar plugin
    [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-shop/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-shop/)
 * It’s simple and easy to install.

 * I haven’t tried it yet, but it seems like the perfect solution for ecommerce
in WP. I intend on trying it in the near future.

 * Why do you think it is perfect? It is working with customs fields and there is
no admin demo to check out the ease of use and usability.

 * Ok, maybe not perfect, but from the others that’s out, this one is steps ahead
   IMHO.

 * Yes looks nice if you want a store that meets exactly the given presettings ..
What if I don’t want my products images to measure 300 x 300px? Then I obviously
need to modify the code .. still I can’t see the advantages without an admin
demo to check my options. Maybe it’s worth $55 maybe it’s not … I cannot see
if there is an option to add a second currency or to change currency. What about
an option to add tax information? How does the checkout work… what options are
there to determine shipping costs (especially if somebody buys more than one
item)? Maybe I missed it in the demo video but is there a field for shipping
costs at all? You see … a lot of questionmarks 🙂

 * [YAK Shop](http://www.briggs.net.nz/log/projects/yak-for-wordpress/) rocks. I
use it for [my site with 400 products](http://slnieckova.sk/) with all the joy.
Sales are quite good and growing month by month.
    [@acousticsam](https://wordpress.org/support/users/acousticsam/):
I find using the “yak_price” custom field for price very elegant, 100% WordPress
goodness. I use Yak with pages (not posts) thought. Yak Shop supports PayPal
   🙂

 * First off, maybe you should ask questions about the Market Theme in the [presale forum](http://www.markettheme.com/forum)
so you will actually get some answers ;). I’ve done just about everything I can
to include everything in the Market theme. For all you are getting, it is well
   worth the $55.
