• I have the latest version of WP and e-commerce, but it’s not working like it should. Even more frustrating, none of the video or blog tutorials anywhere seem to be running the same version as mine.

1st Problem: I have no “View Your Cart” button anywhere. I attempted to add one under the same link as the “Checkout” page under my Pages (http://knightfallgames.com/products-page/checkout/) so that people could have at least SOMEWHERE to go look at their cart contents and checkout when they’re done, but that link doesn’t actually work. If you go there after putting products in your cart, it tells you your cart is empty. However, when you ADD something new to your cart, it gives you the option to “Go to Checkout” which takes you to “http://knightfallgames.com/?page_id=388” which SOMETIMES will have the correct cart items in it. What in the world is going on?

2nd Problem: I can’t actually modify the look of my products.
    http://knightfallgames.com/store-cat
If you look among the test products I have there, you’ll see that the product takes up the entire page, has overlapping texts, and is just plain ugly. There’s supposed to be a way to simply add products in some kind of grid format, but instead all it’s doing is making a HUGE product area, and I have no ability to actually customize it like I should be able to, due to the next problem.

3rd Problem: Missing options. On several video tutorials I saw a section under “Admin” where you had custom URL’s and e-mail fields. Mine does not. The ONLY options under Admin are: Admin Settings, Purchase Receipt, Admin Report, Tracking Email Subject, and Tracking Email Message. Nothing else.

I am about ready to tear my hair out when it comes to WordPress, and beginning to wonder if scrapping it altogether wouldn’t be a bad idea. The problem with THAT is that the owner of the site likes the easy-post ability, and would like that easy-to-use ability with his e-commerce products as well. I’d love to give him that option, instead of having to handle EVERY SINGLE product myself, but the e-commerce plugin just seems so broken I don’t know what to do anymore. Please someone help me.

It has been over a day, and I still have not had a response to my problem. Please someone get back to me soon, I am getting desperate.

Alright, while waiting for a response here, I have gotten my entire layout to work. The only thing that doesn’t work, still, is the cart.

I now have the e-commerce Shopping Cart Widget on the right hand side. It updates, and stays there when you are browsing through pages. However if you leave the web site itself and come back later, it will only say “Loading…”. It also says “Loading…” for an empty cart. Is there any way to fix this?

You should not be getting the ?page in the URL, but something like /store/boardgames instead. I had a similar problem a couple months ago and had to turn the permalinks off and on again so that the new files from ecommerce plug-in picked them up.

Permalinks are for blog posts, they don’t have anything to do with the store. I WISH I could turn on permalinks for the store, but I don’t think there’s any option to do that. If there is, I would LOVE for someone to point it out to me. I’m getting desperate here, and this is the ONLY response I’ve gotten that’s been anywhere near helpful on a “quick response” board.

The permalinks are for the whole site. eCommerce adds some pages to your template and the new pages don’t seem to pick up the permalinks that are already setup. Did you try turning them off and on again for your WHOLE SITE?

They work fine on our store: http://princessfestival.com/store/dresses/dressup-princess-maurine-deluxe/

Also you might look at the thread on the getsopped forum about the permalinks: http://getshopped.org/forums/topic/permalinks-problem/

That may help with other related problems if you are having them.

@karen: You linked me to an unresolved issue with no solutions.

You raise an interesting solution though. How exactly DO I turn permalinks on and off? I don’t see any options for that, or instructions.

    I looked here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks
But these instructions make no sense at all. The closest thing it says in there to turning them on and off is “make sure they are on” without specifying HOW. The only instructions anyone seems to tell me is “turn it off then on” but not how to actually DO this. I certainly don’t see an “On” switch in the Permalink options. The closest thing I can find that MIGHT help is someone talking about PHP, which I don’t know. I expected a working system when I downloaded this, not something that I would have to constantly fix myself.

@esmi: You just locked my other thread and didn’t actually help me at all. Is this the ‘great and quick support’ I’m supposed to keep expecting? Is there actually a professional support person anywhere around here, or just a bunch of people who have to figure out how things work on their own? I am getting so frustrated with the lack of professional support on here.

Go to permalinks under the settings tab and change your permalink structure and save/update the changes, then change it back and save/update it again. This effectively refreshes your permalinks and should resolve the issue you are having with your plug-in.

WordPress is free and the people helping on these forums are volunteers. If people are kind enough to help you for free in their spare time, it doesn’t hurt to be courteous.

I’m sorry Karen, I didn’t mean to be rude at you. I’m just getting very frustrated with the lack of professional help and the completely worthless instructional pages. I would just love it if one of the people that actually MADE the software and UNDERSTANDS it would come along, instead of leaving everyone to figure it out for themselves.

I tried your solution, and have been trying it for the three days that I’ve been having this problem while waiting for a solution. It changes nothing. I will change it to Default (which clears the field), refresh the entire theme, then change back to Custom Structure with “/%postname%” in the field, and it changes nothing. The problem occurs no matter what is set in the permalinks. I think it might actually be a problem with getshopped e-commerce, but they’re even LESS responsive than the professionals here.
