“dynamic” subpages?

Is it possible to have a page ( ‘gallery’ in my case ) and have all “arguments” passed to that page template ( ‘gallery.php’ )

When I go to /gallery/ now, it shows the gallery page, but when I go to /gallery/2008/ I get an error not found page from wordpress.

But I need it to open the gallery page ( and thus the gallery.php template ), where a plugin wil handle some things.
