    Hi
First of all, I think this plugin is absolutely brilliant. Thank you to the creator of the plug for providing such a powerful security plugin free of charge.

I am with BT and although my ipv4 address stays constant they seem to use ipv6 addresses most of the time and they change every time I log on. I questioned this and they told me all home accounts are dynamic ip.

If I want a fixed ip address they require me to upgrade to a business account, a lot more expensive!

I use cloudflare and have set up the plugin and page rules to your recommendations but because my ip addresses are dynamic I do not get my fixed ipv4 address, I get the ever-changing ipv6 address on traffic inspector.

I have looked at the recommendation for me to “define the CERBER_IP_KEY PHP constant in the wp-config.php file and the plugin will use it as a key to obtain IP addresses from the $_SERVER variable” but my ipv4 address doesn’t show anywhere nly one of the ipv6 dynamic addresses.

The thing is when I go to “https://wpcerber.com/what-is-my-ip/” this page always shows my unique fixed ipv4 address no problem even though a am on a dynamic ip account.

I was wondering if the coding that allows “https://wpcerber.com/what-is-my-ip/” to find my fixed ipv4 address could somehow be integrated into the plugin so that it will work with static or dynamic ip accounts?

If not its isn’t the end of the world I usually log into admin before viewing my site so I can tell which ip address is me by seeing which ones are logged in.

Its brilliant the way I can just leave the plugin on autopilot and it blocks the spammers. It has caught 8 in the last 2 weeks!

Can I just ask if blacklisting offenders just tightens up security to prevent them breaking into a site or if it blocks them from even visiting and viewing it? If it doesn’t block them out completely could this maybe be an option for a future update?

Thank you once again for the plugin.

    Best regards
    John

  • Can Anyone help with this enquiry, please?
Maybe there is a code I can add to wp-config or the theme.php?

    Best regards

    Hi!

You need to ask Cloudflare for assistance. You don’t see your IP address just because your website is behind Cloudflare proxy servers. On the other hand if there is no IP address in the $_SERVER variable, you can’t use the way with defining CERBER_IP_KEY. The https://wpcerber.com/what-is-my-ip/ page is not behind any proxy so it detects IP address differently.

As of now it’s “blacklisting offenders just tightens up security to prevent them breaking into a site”.

Blocking IPs completely is a feature for a future update. Stay tuned!

    Hi! How is it going?

    Hi Gioni

The plugin is working brilliantly. It catches attempted attacks every day and locks them out. I then block their ip range on cloudflare’s firewall.

I havnt got any further with my problem of dynamic ip address. BT wants me to upgrade to a business account in order to get a static ip! I will wait until my contract is finished and find an alternative company who will give me a static ip at a reasonable cost.

I haven’t contacted cloudflare about the issue. Do you think they will bother to help me with my free account?

Thanks for producing such a great plugin.

    Hi
I have logged in and out of my website, many times since yesterday afternoon and my ip address has been the consistent ipv4 one.

I dont know if this is just good luck or coincidence or whether you have changed something on the plugin, and maybe that was the reason you asked how things were going?

On another topic I saw somewhere that one of the development you may be considering is country block. I have had problems with this feature on other plugins as I use wp rocket caching. If you do develop country block could you please try to make it work with rocket or make it so that country block can be deselected in the settings?

Security and website speed are both very important things to have.

Hi! Nothing has changed, I’m just asking.

No worries, the country blocking feature doesn’t block access to normal public pages/posts on a website. BTW, anyone who wants to get the optimal solution needs to use NGINX GEOIP feature: https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-geoip/

    Hi
The ip address problem is solved. Maybe BT or Cloudflare changed something because cerber only shows my ip address in ipv4 format now and although I still have a dynamic ip it only seems to change once every few days whereas when the ipv6 address was showing it could change 10 times a day.

    Happy times!

Im not worried about country blocking. Cerber works brilliantly I now dont need to block countries as a precaution, just let cerber lock attackers out and thereby identify them for me so I can block them on the Cloudflare firewall. I was just hoping you don’t introduce a feature that could cause problems with wp-rocket.

Once again I am very grateful to you for providing such an effective security plugin.

    Best regards
    John
