Does anybody know about the overheads in using galleries that use filtering and use the animation effects to reorganise in the current browser window.
I am thinking about changing the theme on our site and making it responsive for mobile devices. I also want to simplify how the site works and how it is administered.
At the moment we have pages using tables to show item thumbnails in a grid layout. I would like to change this to something more dynamic using filters, showing everything on one page and using the filter to display each category of item. Doing this though would mean showing about 280 items on one page and I have no idea wether a filtered gallery as shown in the example would fair with this amount of thumbnail images.
The linked gallery is built into the theme and from what I can see is put together using shortcodes. Are there any good plugins that look good (can be customised) can handle my 280 items and can actually dynamically change the gallery size matching posts that are created to show each item in detail.
