    Im having issues with the woocommerce multilingual plugin. Whenever I edit a product from dutch to english than it will make both the english and dutch product in dutch.

    It also removes the tags when I translate the product.

    When I go to the product itself and disconnect it from WPML synchronization and I manually translate the product to dutch than it will work without a hitch.

    All plugins are up to date, any ideas why this is causing it?

    Are you using duplicates for the translated products? If so, it is the expected behavior. When you duplicate a product you’re basically creating an instance of this same product with the same contents. So if you update the original product, the changes will overwrite the translated product as well. If you want to have different data for translated products, you should click on ‘Edit independently’ button when you’re editing the translation. Then it won’t be a duplicate anymore and you’ll be free to have different data in bot original and translated products.

    Hi,

    Im not sure what you mean with if they are duplicates. All I know is I go to the Woocommerce Multilingual plugin, i select the product tab and I see all the products.

    When i click on edit translation than the screen drops down and I see English and Dutch. I click on edit translation and I see two fields, one with the original text, the other again with the same text. I edit the second field which says dutch translation beneath.

    Isn’t this suppose to work like this?

    All i need to do is translate the text for the products, prices and such are all kept as the original english products.

    I remember going to translation management and duplicate all the product content. Is this something I wasn’t suppose to do? Simply go to the woocommerce multilingual plugin and select translation for each product instead?

    Otherwise Im really confused how this works, as WPML docs state this is the way to translate a product e.g. go to the woocommerce multilingual plugin products tab and edit the translation.

    This is the way to to translate products:
    1- Create them in Products page
    2- Go to WPML>WooCommerce Multilingual
    3- If there are any category, attribute o shipping class that needs to be translated, translate it first in the proper tab
    4- Go to ‘products’ tab and translate the product (as you described)

    You shouldn’t experience any error translating products this way. Could you try to create a new product and translate it following these steps? Then check if you’re still experiencing the same issue with it.

    Hi Bernatorras,

    So far so good. Duplicating the products through translation manager really demolishes the products. Even when you try to translate them independently it won’t save the featured image, or any product information except for description and product short description.

    It also strips the products from any tags or information when I tried to edit them through the products window in woocommerce multilingual.

    Why is there this duplicate button for products since it pretty much destroys the products. Shouldn’t there be a warning, or am I the only one who thought duplicating the products the same was as duplicating pages for translation was the right way to do it?

    As you say, it shouldn’t behave this way! We’re taking note of this and test it properly to find the origin of the problem. If its a bug we’ll certainly fix it on next releases! Thanks for reporting! 🙂
