Have you tried switching to the default WordPress theme? Can you then get into the dashboard?

Before you do that, download a fresh copy of WordPress and reinstall the wp-admin and wp-include folders using FTP. This problem might have been caused by a few files not having transferred during the upgrade.

See this possibly similar problem that was solved this way: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-after-upgradeplease-help?replies=3

Hi Jason excuse my stupidity but how can I do that if I cant get into my dashboard? is there a way of switching on ftp?

FTP isn’t done by logging into the dashboard. Usually you install some software – for example, Filezilla – and use that to view your website’s files and folders.

    See https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients

You will need to know your FTP username and password but these should have been provided to you by your hosting company when you first signed up.

sorry meant to say I have an ftp client but was wondering how I change from one theme to another using an ftp client rather than the dashboard

    Hi,

You can rename the current theme folder through FTP wp-content/Themes/Theme-name, this will automatically activate the default theme twenty fifteen.

    Thanks,

I think I deleted all other themes from the dashboard I only have Third-Style and one called nabia in the themes folder

I have downloaded twentyfifteen and its now in the /wwwroot/wp-content/themes/
I’m unsure which bit to rename, sorry this is very new to me

now I’m getting this when I go to the wordpress login
PHP Fatal error: Class ‘WP’ not found in D:\domains\listrygaa.ie\wwwroot\wp-settings.php on line 279

    Hi,

It seems that previous WordPress update has been failed, some of the WordPress files are missing or corrupted. Try following:

Delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders.
Download the latest version of WordPress..
Locate wp-admin and wp-includes folders from the new installation.
Replace these folders with existing WordPress installation.
      Activate the twenty fifteen theme.

Note :: Make sure you secure backup of WordPress website before you make any changes.

    Thanks,

Uploaded images will be in the wp-content folder, so don’t over-write that.

Just follow the instructions from Accuwebhosting above and you’ll be fine.

To be doubly safe, make a backup first – always good practice.
