    I am running into a problem in trying to get my installer and package to work with Instant WordPress in putting my blog onto an external hard drive. I have copied the package and install.php files to the /wordpress directory of IWP after deleting the all of the files in this root directory.
    In the “Deploy” tab, I am using: Host- ‘localhost’; User- ‘root’; no password; user name: ‘wordpress’. When I run the “test connection” I get error messages: “Server connected: Fail” and “Database Found – Fail”. It will not let me tick both “create new” and “remove tables” together; I can only do one or the other.

    What am I missing? Do I need to change some settings in Duplicator?

    Thanks!

  • Hey lgordonb,

    You can either create a new database (which doesn’t work on most cpanels) or connect to an existing one, which requires your tables to be empty, you can’t choose both options…

    Also checkout this section on the FAQs I believe it may help with this issue:
    -> Browse to: http://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “3. Troubleshoot=> Database Issues”

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Igordonb. Had the same problem as you. I had to edit the pms_config.ini, in the iwserverfolder. I recogniced the installer tried to reach the database at port 3306, so I changed the MySQLPort from 7188 to 3306 in the pms_config.ini, then the databaseconnection worked. Good luck and hope it helps.

    Thanks sharing KDahl…

    Thanks a lot for this hint KDahl, works great for me. Don’t forget to close and restart InstantWP.
