Support » Plugin: CAOS | Host Google Analytics Locally » duplicate versions of analytics.js / CAOS + GADWP Exactmetrics + Woo + WP Rocket

I built this site and I know for sure that the only way I integrate GA is with the GADWP by ExactMetrics plugin. I have this compatibility mode enabled in CAOS, but for some reason I am still loading duplicate analytics.js – one still comes from the Google server.

Other plugins which may have an impact:
Zen Popup – has an option to enable tracking on popup interactions
    WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration
WP Rocket – don’t know how this would hurt at all though

I really think it is the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration. When I remove my Google Analytics ID from the text field under WooCommerce > Settings > Integration > Google Analytics page, then clear cache, I no longer load analytics.js twice.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • OK, I think I get it. Your plugin wants to be compatible with one or the other, not both GADWP/ExactMetrics AND WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration. I understand that I’m voicing more of a feature request at this point, rather than a support question. Your plugin is great!

The issue is that some people need both when they need a lot of analytics data.

GADWP/EaxtMetrics gives fine control over tracking events like downloads and site speed samples. It does not send ecommerce transaction data or meaningful visitor events like adding things to cart and removing them from cart, even if you switch on enhanced ecommerce tracking.

WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration does all the ecommerce tracking I just mentioned. And it seems to be cognizant of GADWP/ExactMetrics because when only these two plugins are enabled, it doesn’t load analytics.js a second time.

When CAOS is enabled and compatibility mode is set to either plugin, it’s going to load analytics.js twice.

No big deal. I’ll leave CAOS diabled for now. Maybe compatibility mode can become an auto-detect or a ‘check all that apply’ option in the future 🙂

    Thanks!

If you’re using WC GA Integration and ExactMetrics, it’s already loading analytics.js twice. They both add their own tracking code.

And you’re right, CAOS can only set to be compatible with one or the other, because you don’t need both. You should choose between them.

If you want both, cool stats in your backend and e-commerce events, use MonsterInsights and lose WC GA integration and ExactMetrics.

Thanks, I’ll give MonsterInsights a try.

Unfortunately didn’t like MonsterInsights too much. It doesn’t track ecommerce events like add/remove from cart out of the box. Need to buy premium for this.

Running ExactMetrics and Woocommerce Google Analytics side-by-side without CAOS doesn’t seem to be double-loading analytics.js. They just both place their own code to track various actions.

Now I’m thinking it would be great if we create a tool to generate analytics code that could be pasted right into CAOS. I have some other projects right now but I’ll come back to this. Maybe we can work on it together!

    Thanks for your help.
