   I want to duplicate the site to have a version in french in a subfolder [http://Www.weddinglight.com/fr](http://Www.weddinglight.com/fr)
 * How should i go about it
    The site is hosted with dreamhost Thanks

 * I just see no reason to make a duplicate version of your site. Not only will 
   this take up space in your database, but it’s going to hurt your SEO rankings
   as you’ll now have duplicate content across two sites.

 * Well i would have .com in english and .com/fr in french so i dont see why would
   that hurt my ranking

 * Because both of the sites will have the same content, and live on the same domain.
   Google will see it as an exact duplicate. Regardless of location on your server(
   sub folder or not)

 * I’m not %100, but as an educated guess I would say yes. Now, moving it to sitename.
   fr may be an entirely different story.
