Hi barkeyo,
Duplicate meta description warnings in Google Webmaster Tools do not affect your search ranking especially with a blog which Google knows could have paginated content. However, we will make a change in the next release of the plugin to fix this.
Hi wpsmort,
Thanks for the response, and I know that is the official line, but experience tells me different. Previously when I used Yoast’s SEO plugin, the duplicates on paginated content was hurting my ranking. When they fixed it the site ranking improved significantly.
Interesting. Can you tell me if you use the Auto-generate Descriptions option in All in One SEO Pack? Or have you manually set the meta description for the blog page?
I use a manually set one for the actual blog page, and since I currently have around 56 pages to the blog page, that means 56 duplicate meta descriptions.
btw, what’s the situation with regards to post meta descriptions being pulled into other pages as I posted on the below thread?

Hi barkeyo,
I’ve tested locally and can confirm this is a bug. We will have a fix for this released this week.
We’ve posted a new release that has bug fixes for these issues. Please let me know if you still experience problems after updating. Please be as specific as possible to help us provide accurate bug fixes.
Thank you. I can see that the update has an option to hide/remove meta description from paginated pages, which appears to work as described, and will hopefully eliminate the immediate issue of duplication notifications. It would be a nice feature though, as indicated in the original post, whether rather than opting to remove the descriptions entirely, if you decided to leave them enabled, the plugin appended a page number to the description. This would also remove ‘duplication’ and surely adhere closer to SEO best practice.
Hi barkeyo,
Thank you for the feedback. We’ll certainly consider that.
