Duplicate menu items in WP 3.0 (13 posts)

    After update to version 3.0 you can see new (or duplicate) items in top menu. Don't worry - it's not a bug. It's new feature of WP 3.0. Open navigation menu settings (/wp-admin/nav-menus.php) and change it (or remove).

    Constructor 1.0.4 and early use first available menu.
    From version 1.0.5 constructor use menu with title "Header Menu".

    I removed the /wp-admin/nav-menus.php file from my server and I am still getting a duplicate top menu.

    Same here. Changed file as indicated but header menu is still duplicating.

    I just installed a fresh Constructor 1.0.6, I am getting the same problem. The "Header Menu" items are just added to the default menu, so many items are duplicated.

    Same problem here with duplicate menu. Still no solution. Love the theme. This is the first problem I have had...

    Glad it's not just me! Same problem here too when I updated to 3.0...

    Removed the /wp-admin/nav-menus.php and the duplicates are still there. I'm still using Constructor 0.9.7 though as I'm afraid that I'll loose all the customization if I update to 1.0.6. Is this the case? If so what can I do to retain all of the hours of work I've put into modifying the php and css??? I don't think it's as simple as cutting and pasting everything as I know the code will have changed with the update... Help!

    Hi Anton. Thanks for your interest in fixing this issue.

    Sorry for my ignorance but when you say the menu items should be empty what do you mean? As I said, I've actually removed /wp-admin/nav-menus.php file altogether and I still get the same problem.

    The site I'm working on is http://www.empireenergy.us

    There is a password protect on the site until it goes live:
    user: admin
    pass: Empire@Riley41

    As I explained above, I'm afraid that if I upgrade to the latest version of Constructor (from 0.9.7 to 1.0.6) I'll loose all of the customization? So I've been modifying the code in the header.php as a temporary solution - essentially turning off the menu function and inputting the nav manually above this disabled code:

    <?php // get_constructor_menu() ?>
    <?php // wp_nav_menu( array( 'container_class'=>'menu_header','theme_location'=>'primary' ) ); ?>

    Unfortunately this means inputting new code every time you want to add a page which is no use to my client. I've turned it back on and removed my manual nav so you can see the problem.

    PLEASE help! Many thanks in advance :-)

    You can try install 1.0.6 as new theme (but don't save any changes).
    Install it to folder constructor106, and switch to it.

    Ok, will try that. But just so I'm clear, there is no way to fix the problem using Constructor 0.9.7 with the new WordPress 3.0???
