• Hi, I’ve noticed that I’m getting a lot of duplicated images in my media library. I’m using a filter to grab the image from the feed, save it locally and set as featured image. It seems to be grabbing the images from the feed and saving them locally multiple times on different occasions.

Is there a way of setting the featured image but not saving files locally?

    Hi,

Yes it’s a known bug, I basically can’t find out why this happening sometimes. Although these images ( they are ‘unattached’ in the library ) are fortunately -not- being saved as a duplicate on the server so luckily it’s only in the media library. (unless you have a different experience).

There is also no way to set images featured but not save, that’s because WordPress just saves the ID of the image it refers to, so it must be saved on the WP installation.

Oh thats interesting. So its not duplicating the file itself, just displaying it several times in the media library?

Exactly ( but check in uploads to be sure ). For some reason every now and then the attaching goes wrong, making the plugin think it should do it again. FAF features a detection system so it won’t redownload and store the same image multiple times.
