“Dupicate SKU” warning has vanished

Hello,

The warning that I’m about to save a product with a duplicate SKU isn’t showing up anymore. The product saves with a blank SKU and I have no warning that this has happened.

I’ve deactivated plugins and snippets. I’ve tried rolling WC back to 3.2.6, but nothing brings the error message back. I need to know that I’m trying to use a duplicate SKU to avoid a bunch of SKUless records in my shop.

Hi there,

I just tested this with the latest version of WooCommerce and I’m still getting the following error when trying to save a product with a duplicate SKU:

Invalid or duplicated SKU.

You mentioned you checked for conflicts by disabling plugins. Did you also try to switch to a default theme?

I’ve also seen them hidden before with some CSS rules. In that case you could look at the HTML code to see if there is an error being displayed on the page (after saving a duplicate SKU).

Thanks for your reply. I tried switching to Twenty Fifteen, and still no error message.

Good idea to check for a hidden message. I’ll try that tonight as I can only really do this after the physical shop closes for the day.

Hi Michael,

I just tried creating a product with a duplicate SKU, then checking the HTML and searching for both “duplicate” and “invalid”.

Sadly, there’s nothing hiding in the code that can be coaxed out into the open. It’s simply not there.
