• Hey Fellow Pressers!

My name is Carl and I recently became a self employed web designer,
this is my new web design company Web Shark – Dunedin Web Design

I live in Dunedin, New Zealand and I’m going to give the self employment thing a bit of a try while I’m young so wish me luck!

Any feedback would be kindly appreciated 🙂

  • It’s quite nice. I’m a little concerned with the grey text on a grey background on the homepage. I actually liked it which I usually don’t because of eyestrain. Maybe because it is used sparingly it’s okay.

I’m not sure about the background graphic behind the text for the same reason. I’m interested in hearing what others say. I can see it going both ways.

    You logo is outstanding.

    Thanks for the quick feedback!

The grey has been a concern raised before, I personally don’t think it’s to bad, and the fact that your actually a eye-strain sufferer and still find it okay further highlights this.

I can see how the background image can have problems though, maybe drop the transparency down even further.

I had problems when I got business cards printed, in that the grey came out so much more darker, and the black was quite hard to distinguish 🙁

But definately want to hear from others and see what their input is also.

I’ll pass on the logo comment to the designer 🙂

    Thanks again,

Your header (including the logo) is really quite large, it makes the pages seem alike as you can’t see the content changing below.

The contact form looks squashed compared to the wide layout of the website.

The portfolio seems to repeat a lot of the home page.

Your Home page is not valid to W3C’s standards
    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwebshark.co.nz%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

Also check validity of other pages.

I’ve displayed the header like this as a point of difference due to so many webpages having the generic header to the left with the navigation to the right.
I haven’t studied design, I come from a more developing background, so I’m unaware of the technical aspects of the presentation, but to me and the people I have asked it seems to be quite aesthetically pleasing.

I’m about to change the styling of my contact form so the elements are better spaced. I don’t know why I hadn’t already been done. Thank you for pointing this out!

I have looked at the validation and am going to try and figure out where the broken p tags are been outputted from the php, but I’m not so concerned with the rel errors. The site renders fine across all browsers and mobile devices, and as it doesn’t break when been crawled the time spent to get it validating probably outweighs the benefits.

Thank you very much for your feedback Andrew,
    it was kindly appreciated
