I am a complete newbie folks. I downloaded the latest WP and now have my first dumb question. It appears in order to run WP I first have to have a “host” for a web site. Is this correct?
If I do have to have a “host” first how hard is all this going to be guys to get WP up and going and create a web site?
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

    Bill

Most people develop on a local server. Basically you host it on your computer, then when it is ready you transfer to a live web host. I don’t know what OS you are using but there are plenty of ways to set up a virtual server.

If you are planning on making your website publicly available, you will need a host. Many web hosts offer very simple installation of WordPress, which is much quicker and easier than setting up a virtual server on your own computer.

Try putting localhost where it asks for host.
