    Hi, I’ve created two versions of a single downloadable item for my store, so it’s only listed once. When does the customer get to pick which version they’ll download?

    Also, do customers still needed to enter address information for downloadable purchases?

    Hi there,

    I’ve created two versions of a single downloadable item for my store, so it’s only listed once. When does the customer get to pick which version they’ll download?

    Just to make sure that we’re on the same page, do you mean that you’ve added two download links to the product? If so, the buyer should see both once they’ve purchased.

    Also, do customers still needed to enter address information for downloadable purchases?

    The customer will go through the normal checkout and will normally be required to enter this information.

    However, you can modify this default behavior with plugins that make it easier to check out or access digital products. In this regard, you can take a look at these plugins:
    * https://wordpress.org/plugins/download-now-for-woocommerce/
    * https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-checkout-for-digital-goods/

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the links.

    It’s a single product listing with two options for a downloadable item they can buy. So once they’ve paid for the item, they then get to pick which option they want to download?

    Is there a way I can test that works without making a purchase myself?

    Thanks for getting back.

    If it is a variable product, the customers will have to make a selection for the option they want **before** purchasing. Thus, they will get a download link for the item option that they chose to purchase.

    Is there a way I can test that works without making a purchase myself?

    You can checkout with Cash on Delivery or BACS payment methods. This way, you can test without making any actual payments. Here are guides on how to setup these payment methods:
    * https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/cash-on-delivery/
    * https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/bacs/

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Ah, I’ve just figured out where I’ve made a mistake after reading https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/variable-product

    god, I hate being dyslexic, it takes me too long to figure things out due to my processing issues. Anyway, thanks for your time and effort, I think it’s all sorted now.

    And thanks for the additional links, that’ll come in handy for giving me peace of mind as I add more items

    Great! I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Cheers.
