• A WALKTHROUGH

I am doing a basic update of image file paths after migrating a website.

I enter search for string as:

    uploads/2019/10

and choose [select all tables] and [dry run].

I click [Do search and replace]. The resulting message says:

70 tables were processed. 17658 cells need to be updated.

    I click [view details].

    Confusion 1:

In the results, are many database tables. Most I know have NO image links. I just chose [select all tables] for laziness.

BUT, these tables are listed with the label “Column Changes: ###” which suggests the plugin will update them incorrectly. ???????

These same tables also show a tabular data list with: row, column, old value and new value table header. Even though no content is actually showing under any of these table headers.

This is confusion 1. Why would it say “Column changes?” which suggests it will be making DB updates.. and yet shows no match or replacement which means the update may scramble the DB table.

    Confusion 2:

For those tables I know need updating eg. wp_usermeta it reports Column changes: 1 but is not showing me any OLD VALUE or NEW VALUE…

So overall, I cannot trust this plugin. Gives me fear not confidence.

Is it my lack of understanding, but logically this output doesn’t make sense.
