dropped from Google in mid-May

    My site was averaging 700+ visits per day and now averages around 40 per day.

    The dramatic drop occurred around May 20th.

    Its an SEO friendly site, over 18 months old and always had great growth. Uses a Google sitemap and absolutely no spam tactics.

    What gives?

    have you tried https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview ?

    I’m sure google is best capable of answering the question, but the only thing I can think of is that you have a bit of duplicate content in your date-based archives. Maybe make it so google won’t index them.

    Can you give me a tip on which google site map you use. Google isn’t liking mine. It comes back with an “error”.

    I don’t know what your content or budget is but if you want good traffic pay yahoo to list it. Your hits will go through the roof. Google will come back to your site.

    Check out the webmaster tools. Maybe re submit if its been a while.
