• Previous posts indicated that drop down menus quit working (for some people) after upgrading their WordPress Version and that it would be remedied in version 6.1.1. I have 6.1.1 installed, and that does not seem to solve the issue. The web site has worked for years, and I have made no other recent changes. Any advice on how to address the problem would be appreciated.

    And which “drop-down menus” are you referring to?

    If you’re referring to drop-down menus on your public (ie front-end) site, that’s 100% dependent on your theme (or plugin, if you used a plugin to create the menus)… and has nothing to do with WordPress. That’s why I’m curious which “previous posts” said such a problem will be fixed in WordPress 6.1.1.

    If you’re referring to something else, please clarify which “drop-down” menus you’re referring to. A screenshot would be great as well. https://snipboard.io/

    Thanks, accidently deleted my existing menu (which had the drop down menus) which is why you don’t see it. Trying to create a new menu. Not able to add any items to the menu. I can execute all the step in the Appearances:Menus, but no changes show up on the screen. I use the Primo WP Theme, if that is relevant. Not a frequent WP user, but was always able to edit and create menus apriori.

    Realized that I didn’t answer all @gappiah questions. I am using the WordPress Appearances:Menu function to create the menu. I have been looking for the post that said the issue would be fixed in 6.1.1. unable to find it. Both of you are pointing to the theme and/or plugins, so will start there. Thank you both for the very prompt replies.

    As I said earlier, the drop-down menu feature is dependent on your theme. WordPress merely allows you to create the menu structure… but its display, be it a flat vertical or horizontal menu, drop-down, fly-out, or a simple bulleted list… that’s all dependent on your theme.

    It has nothing to do with a new release of WordPress.

    You’re using a commercial theme, so you’ll need to use the theme’s official support channel of your theme’s vendor. Commercial products are not supported here.

    Also of note: I realized your theme has been removed from the ThemeForest marketplace where it was previously sold (and where you probably purchased it from). The author’s ThemeForest profile shows no product listing at all, even though they’re supposedly an “Elite Author”. And I can’t find any current info on the theme or its author anywhere online.

    So it seems you’re using an ancient and long-abandoned theme, so it should be no surprise that the drop-down menu feature may have broken. I’ll recommend you take the steps now to migrate to a modern and actively-developed theme before it’s too late… before this old theme breaks your site completely, or worse, before your site gets hacked.
