Please take time to read this post even though I’ve seen this problem listed time and again. I have searched everything I could find in the forum, not to mention everything I can find on the web. I keep finding the problem but not a single answer to what seems to be a minor problem. Posting here is a last resort.
I am using WP 2.9 (I just upgraded hoping to resolve the issue. But I had the same problem with 2.8), and the “WP Youtube Profile Editor” plugin. No matter what I try the dropdown menu is hidden by the Youtube video screen, or I have errors when I validate. I have tried 4 or 5 plugins that are supposed to post the video with proper xhtml coding. “Smartyoutube” solves the problem of the hidden menu but shows errors when I try to valadate. Videodork works as well but again it shows errors when valadated. Most “solutions” mention adding (wmode=”transparent”), to your code, but the “WP Youtube Profiler” has that in it’s code. I simply don’t know what to do. I’ve tried changing z-index in css but so far nothing has done everything I need. So far i have either been able to get a youtube plugin that has valid xhtml and hides the dropdown menu or shows the menu but shows errors when validated.
Can someone please show me how to fix this issue, or point me to the right plugin?
    Thanks

  • Do you have a link to the site in question, wmode transparent / z-index should provide a sufficent fix.

Well after searching, literally all day. I have found a solution that solves both my problems. I’ll post the answer because I’m sure it will be of help to someone else.
I found a plugin called “Viper’s Video Quicktags” from WP plugins.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vipers-video-quicktags/
It not only has all of the functions of the “WP Youtube Profile Editor” plugin, (you can adjust most everything). But it provides valid xhtml and the dropdown menu is on top. All right out of the box. Well one down, and on to the next.
    I hope this will help.
    Thanks
