Dropdown defaulting to first term, not -any-

I have a few custom taxonomies designed around a curriculum. The taxonomy for Grade Level is giving me an issue I can’t figure out. Instead of showing “-any-” when it loads the dropdown list, it defaults to the first alphabetical term. The name and slug are the same: 1, 2, 3, 4, K, etc.
I’ve tried changing the names to “First, Second…” to see if that helped, but it still doesn’t show “-any-” as an option. The Grade Level taxonomy is set up in the same structure as the other two taxonomies that ARE showing -any- as the default. Reordering the taxonomies in the widget didn’t fix the problem. Any ideas?
