Hello, over the past week, I have been receiving an error message when attempting to back up a site for a non-profit animal rescue I help with.

I can confirm I am running the latest version of the plug-in. I have tried to wipe the settings and re-authenticate. I have tried reinstalling the plug-in. No luck. After authenticating with DropBox, I receive the messages that conflict at the top of the screen:

Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

While backing up, I receive this message:

    Tue, October 5, 2021 20:54
Warning: Dropbox: You do not appear to be authenticated with Dropbox (whilst deleting)

    Hi,

I just want to confirm if you have the latest version installed 1.16.61?
If yes, do you have caching or security plugins installed?
Then try to temporarily deactivate and re-authenticate Dropbox again.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Thank you. I can confirm this is Version 1.16.62.

I had the following cache plug-in installed: Clear Cache for Me.
Security Plug-ins include: IP2Location Country Blocker and Limit Login Attempts Reloaded.

I disabled the three plug-ins above and still see this message at the top after re-authenticating DropBox:

Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

When I attempt to perform a backup, I receive this message:
Warning: Dropbox: You do not appear to be authenticated with Dropbox (whilst deleting)

    Hi,

Can you wipe out settings and re-authenticate Dropbox again please? Make sure security and caching plugins are deactivated too.

You will not lose your backups in the process. It will be re-sync after reconnecting Dropbox storage.

Let me know if it still doesn’t work.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hello! I confirmed these plug-ins were disabled, wiped settings, and re-authenticated with Dropbox.

    No luck.

I also noticed after re-authenticating, it logs me out of WordPress, then I log in again and it brings me back to the orange screen, then displays this message at the top:

Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

    Hi,

Made a test on our test server and I cannot replicate this issue.

Are you already logged in to your Dropbox account on your PC?
Can you try using a different browser or use incognito mode, please?

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hello, I am already logged in when I attempt to connect. I have tried logging out and receive the same error message after authenticating.

    UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore
Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

I tried using incognito mode and then again using Firefox (as opposed to Chrome) so this issue is not local.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

We found out last week that this was an issue on Dropbox end.
Are you still getting the same issue up to now?

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Thank you – I am still experiencing this issue.

    After authenticating:

Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

    Hi,

Please can you re-authenticate your Dropbox remote storage?
If you issue persists after re-authentication, try wiping out settings in the “Advance Tools” tab and re-authenticate again.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hello, unfortunately – same issue as before.

Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

I have wiped the settings, logged out of WordPress, logged out of DropBox, then tried to re-authenticate prior to receiving this error message.

    Hi,

    Thank you!

Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.

To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 25Mb save your settings and run a new process.

    Regards,
    Bryle

Hello and thank you – I have changed this setting, and it prompted me to authenticate with DropBox again. I did this, and receive the same error:

Success: you have authenticated your Dropbox account (though part of the returned information was not as expected – your mileage may vary)
Dropbox error: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

I ran a backup afterwards, and it has errors:

    Thu, October 14, 2021 08:30
Warning: Dropbox: You do not appear to be authenticated with Dropbox (whilst deleting)
Warning: Dropbox: You do not appear to be authenticated with Dropbox (whilst deleting)
