[Resolved] Dropbox Authentication

  • I am trying to back up to Dropbox and have followed the instructions to create the API and load all of the info into the plugin but I am getting an error: “You do not appear to be authenticated with DropBox”

Can you please let me know the possible causes of the error and any additional info that you need from me to fix.

    Thank you.

After entering the API secret and key, have you clicked on the link to actually authenticate? i.e. has it taken you to the DropBox page that has the “accept/deny” choice?

Hi David, thank you so much for the reply.

I did, there’s a note that says “(You appear to be already authenticated)”

    Here’s a couple screen caps:

Thank you… please can you download the log file, and paste it here? (As mentioned in the FAQ – if there is a log file, then I need to read it to have a full picture of what’s going on).

The latest version (1.2.33) now has a “Wipe Settings” button down the bottom, so that you can remove your DropBox settings and enter them again, in case there was some mis-match or a typo had unwittingly crept in…

P.S. I just deleted my app and credentials, and started again; no problems…

The latest UpdraftPlus release now simplifies Dropbox authentication somewhat – do try again…

I installed this and created a dropbox but I need to change the dropbox over to someone else’s account. I have tried un-installing and “wipe settinss” and even deleting the dropbox account that I created but it still says I’m authenticated. How can I get rid of my dropbox info in order to hook it up to another account?

I’m having an issue that I believe might be related. I’m running WordPress 3.5 and I just installed the latest version of Updraft for the first time. I activate the plugin and go to the settings page. I set up for Dropbox, hit save, then hit the link to configure dropbox and I get:

Warning: mcrypt_decrypt() [function.mcrypt-decrypt]: The IV parameter must be as long as the blocksize in /hermes/bosoraweb055/b918/ipg.outreachinternationa/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Dropbox/OAuth/Storage/Encrypter.php on line 67

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Oh, by the way. The configure link now reads: “(You appear to be already authenticated). After you have saved your settings (by clicking “Save Changes” below), then come back here once and click this link to complete authentication with Dropbox.”

If I hit the create backup it looks like it builds the zips but then fails with it tries to upload to the cloud, which is no surprise since I haven’t configured it’s access.

    Thanks.

Whoops – when I was implementing the ‘wipe settings’ feature I lost track of the whole purpose, and accidentally left out the crucial one that you wanted to wipe! Doh!

    Try this one:
    http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/updraftplus.1.3.6.zip

Looks like I still get the same thing. I tried:
    -Enabled debug features
    -Wipe settings
    -Uninstall
    -Install 1.3.6
-Enable, set for drop box, enable extra debug info
    -Save
    -Hit link to authenticate
    Errors

    Then I
-Hit upgrade button to upgrade to new 1.3.8 version
    -Wipe settings
-Set for Dropbox enable extra features
    -Save
    -Hit link to do authentication
Still no love. That last one yields

Ah – if your PHP is set up to dump warnings to the browser, then DropBox gets upset.

This should be fixed in 1.3.11 – http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/updraftplus.1.3.11.zip

    David

Sorry, today was the first chance I’ve had to check this out. Looks like you’ve updated since so I installed version 1.3.15 and all is well. Thanks!!

You’re welcome! Id you find UpdraftPlus useful, then please donate – average donation thus far is less than $0.01 per download! http://david.dw-perspective.org.uk/donate

    Hi David,

Great product first of all! Secondly, I just purchased the Developer version and I was wondering how the licensing works with the different WP websites I manage, i.e., do I just install the plugin zip file in each WP site?
