"Drop-Ins" affecting functionality of site. HOW TO FIX?

  • I’m trying to find and delete three drop-ins that I believe are affecting the functionality of our page:

“Drop-ins are advanced plugins in the wp-content directory that replace WordPress functionality when present.”

Where can I find this directory and how can I get rid of the following 3 drop-ins:

    advanced-cache.php
    Advanced caching plugin.

    db.php
    Custom database class.

    object-cache.php
    External object cache.

  • Like it says in the message, those plugins replace core WordPress functionality. They’re usually added by other plugins that require them and removing them will generally kill the plugin(s) that need them (advanced-cache.php for example is needed by whatever caching plugin you’re using). I wouldn’t touch them, but if you really want to, (again, like the message says) they’re in your “wp-content” directory (which is generally in whatever directory you installed WordPress into). You have to use FTP or some sort of directory browser that your host may have provided to go to that directory and delete them.

Also, double posting is frowned upon by the moderators.

Thanks for the suggestion and there will be no more double posting. Apologies.
