Support » Plugin: Flickr Photo Album » drop-in replacement for Flickr Photo Album?

  • clearly the plugin’s not being developed / updated any more. the dev’s clearly put a lot of great work in to date, so that seems fair to me. the question now is what should i use to replace it ? something that would just drop-in and work would be ideal.

    any success stories?

  • flickr press (not to be confused with “flickrpress” which is also out of date) doesn’t seem to have quite as many features, but plays well with wp 3.04 — better still, the interface is almost identical to tan tan’s plugin. if you’re looking for a close match, i don’t think you’ll find better than this.

    • see your sets in wp admin
    • albums show up in almost exactly the same way

    not included:

    • no flickr groups
    • no lightbox, though it would be easy to add
    • no caching, which results in urls are very slightly different
    • no flickr comments

at least that’s from first glance, i could be wrong about some of this. please let me know if i am!
(yeah, the plugin page could def have more info…)

This was a perfect replacement. Thanks for posting it!

    Hi folks,

I’ve pushed another update, which includes WordPress 3.1 compatability and fixes a few bugs that have been reported. The cache issue should also be resolved.

Still doesn’t support flickr groups, lightbox, and comments. Would be interested to know how many others would like to see these features too?

I would like to see the following:

Sub Pages (or collection support) – It is very ugly to show my 30 sets on one page, as I have them grouped by province/state visited. Is this possible?

Would be nice, if it was possible to display one album within a post.
    Maybe using a shortcode.
    i.e [flickr set=”123456789″]

I’m not very fond of having all unhidden albums displayed on an unique ‘flickr’ page. Maybe an option to control that point?

this plugin has almost none of the feature of the previous one mentioned. it just displays all your photos on a page. we need a replacement that lets you insert select photos from your flickr account.
