 * I installed WP on a new site today. In my pages on my older site I can simply
   create a new top-level page , then a few pages that are set with the TL page
   as the parent, and publish. When I go to my site I have the TL page. When I hover,
   the sub menus will appear as drop-downs. To rearrange, I just move the order
   in my pages editing. No problems.
 * I cannot do that in this new site. Changing the page order numbers, and even
   the parent won’t do a thing. I’ve had to go to appearance > menus, and manually
   arrange the TL pages, and the child pages, and whatever work I did in the parent/
   child relationships doesn’t do a thing.
 * I’m using the same theme on both sites. Did WP change something, or am I missing
   something in my settings?
 * I want to simply change my page parent/child relationships and/or order number
   and have the drop-downs work.
 * Any help?

 * Hi dgrblr,
 * It’s hard to say what’s going on here based on just this info – it could be caused
   by errors introduced by a plugin, but it sounds like you may be having the issue
   on a fresh install.
 * I’d advise [turning on debug mode](https://support.zerobull.hosting/support/solutions/articles/14000033741-how-to-enable-wordpress-debug-mode),
   then attempting to change the order of the pages through the editor. This should
   help identify the issues source.

 * Modern WordPress uses menus for this sort of thing, so won’t automatically populate.
   It’s likely that your previous theme just used a function to list all pages.
 * Whether you can go back to the previous way depends if the theme uses the ‘all
   pages’ function as a fallback if no menu is set.
