• Drop down menus were working fine and very recently just stopped working. Its not a theme specific problem (tried a couple of generic themes) but seems to be a recent change with safari. Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have a fix?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

BTW, the problem is that the mouseover doesn’t trigger the drop down. It seems to be responding to an onclick instead.

Firefox seems to see the mouseover just fine though.

I tried 2011… same problem. No new plugins have been installed.

Also history shots of my files show the admin files have not been changed

Just did the plugins…. not a plugin issue

I’ve got some rollovers on the home page… they’re not working either (in Safari.)
They did a few days ago. They basically respond the same way… they need an onclick to active the rollover image rather than a mouseover.

I tried removing the includes and the script for these thinking they might be stepping on the menu scripts but it didn’t work…. has there been a Safari release lately?

Try asking on a dedicated Safari forum.

just put a fresh admin folder up. Same problem.

fixed it. BTW, I tried a dedicated Safari forum… useless.
I did a software update…. Safari 5.1.4 updated from 5.1.3, restarted my computer et voila… no more problem…. a wasted day of un-billable craziness & a restart would have most likely fixed the issue.

A valuable lesson. look for the easy stuff first…..
