Drop down menu on Thematic child theme

I am developing a Thematic child theme and I am not able to get it work.

If I use the Thematic parent theme as the current theme, it works out of the box. As soon as I switch to the child them, it just stops working.

Any suggestion? Do I need to force its activation through code?
