• In my blog http://lickinglilly.wordpress.com I have the Spectrum theme installed and I have a custom menu and a drop down was automatically in the header for the menu but I installed wordpress to http://blog.freegadgetz.co.uk and used the same theme but instead of the menu at the top, it goes to the side bar and the pages I have are where the menu should be in the header. Is there a way to get my header with the drop down into the header or is it that the theme hasn’t been updated at wordpress.org.

Thanks for your time and help and sorry if I did something wrong in this post.

P.S. Hey WordPress bloggers, first post, sorry if it is wrong, good to be part of the community and hope to be helping like you helped me. Thanks again.

  • Sorry

Themes on wordpress.com are often greatly extended or customised variants of their freely downloadable counterparts. So it’s unlikely that you will be able to use exactly the same customised theme on your self-hosted install without customising it yourself.

I have had the same problem as @lickinglilly

The Spectrum theme that is posted on Wp.org does not seem to support drop down menu’s while the .com one does. (at this time anyway)

You will also see slight differences in the text treatment in the pages at the top. Also the “Spectrum” text is an image on the .org version while the .com version loads the sites title as text. But when you resize the browser window you will find the biggest easter egg of them all. It would be nice to have the .com version posted on .org!

I posted a question regarding this on the WordPress.com support forums here – http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/spectrum-theme-how-to-dropdown-menu-for-child-pages?replies=7#post-562523
