Title: dreaded 'failed to upload' Last modified: August 20, 2016 --- # dreaded 'failed to upload' * [dekay1981](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dekay1981/) * (@dekay1981) * [14 years, 4 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/dreaded-failed-to-upload/) * Updated to 3.3 yesterday and get the ‘“image.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/sam-weston.co. uk/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/uploads’ message. All dialog boxes appear and it fail’s at the ‘100% crunching’ stage. * Been going through the forum and cant really find a deffinative answer to this problem. **I have done all steps in the master list**, cleared all server cache, cleared browser cache in FF, IE9, Chrome, Opera and Safari, rebooted the machine just for kicks, installed the Hotfix 0.8 plugin, **removed** every plugin in the plugin directory, removed any instance of plugins from the DB, checked the permissions of the uploads folder, run the [jquery test](http://sam-weston.co.uk/blog/wp-admin/load-scripts.php?load=jquery) for JSON, put the theme to twenty eleven 1.3. * I did a manual install, the same way i did it for 3.1 etc. I’m running unix and apache and php hasn’t changed. * I’m not a php dev’er so i’ve not ventured into the core code, yet!! * Everything else seems to be working but as of yet have not had a good snoop around. * Any help with this upload issue would be greatly appriciated. After that they reverted to default permissions.
