Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
Thanks a lot for your reply. I only have three plugins – askimet, all in one SEO and feedsmith. I have been using all three for months with no issues. I don’t have any inactive plugins other than Hello Dolly.
I have deactivated all those plugins one by one and also reverted to the default theme. On my deashboard it still shoes (14) draft posts but I just can’t view any of them when I click on drafts.
I will try the PHPmyadmin thing you suggested too.
The last thing I did this morning was to delete a drat post I didn’t want – is there a recycle bin where I could bring this back – do you think this might be what caused it?
Thanks again.
I am only running version 2.7 and also two of those plugins (askimet and All in one SEO) have newer versions available. If I upgraded all of the above would that maybe solve the problem? This seems pretty weird as I said I have made no setup changes for several months.
Thanks for your help

No! Do not upgrade any plugins until you have upgraded your blog to 2.8 – which you should do asap if you want to reduce the risk of your site being hacked.
Backup your blog’s database then deactivate all plugins, switch to the default theme and upgrade your blog. Once the upgrade is complete, switch back to your current theme and check everything is OK. Then upgrade the plugins and reactivate them.
Hi Esmi
Woke up this morning to find ALL posts gone. Contacted ISP and found that it was a problem with their server and I now have everything back. I will make the upgrade as you suggested though.
Thanks a lot for your help – I really appreciate it.
