Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Blocks » Draft order created automatically on failed checkout: checkout block

When a customer order fails to go through forexample if a customer didn’t fill in any of the “required” fields, a draft order is created. Whereas this will be a desirable feature for me to attend to such customers, the draft order seems to capture only the contents of the cart and not the information like name, email, phone etc even if entered by the customer. Hoping this is added in the future releases. Otherwise I’m looking forward to replacing my cart and checkout to these blocks. They are incredibly great

Hi @abanista – I’ve attempted to test this before filing an issue, although I haven’t found the same issue you’re experiencing.
When testing with a failed Stripe test card payment, 4000 0000 0000 0002, the order is created and failed before checkout is complete, but all of the information is intact.

In what specific scenario are you seeing that this failed draft order is not saving all information? Is it before/after payment is attempted? Is it due to an address check?

Any additional information you can provide would be helpful!

@jricketts4 I have only COD enabled. ( the other payment gateway I use, Rave Flutterwave is not yet enabled/compatible with the blocks)

This happens when the customer clicks on Place Order ( cash on delivery). So if the order is failed due to missing information, the cart is captured in the draft order, the other information isn’t even if some had been entered at the time of clicking “Place Order”.

I’m currently using these checkout blocks and cart blocks under other content on posts and custom pages. I have not yet substituted the native WooCommerce Cart and checkout of shortcodes. I don’t know if this can be the reason

Thanks for that explanation @abanista – that was very helpful.

I was able to finally see the same issue, so I filed an enhancement request here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-gutenberg-products-block/issues/3150
That issue will now be the source of truth for any movement towards getting that added.

If you read over my summary of the situation, you’ll also see where some of the issues come into play, specifically surrounding privacy laws in many other countries (non-US).

I’ll go ahead and set this to resolved for now, since the issue is now open. Keep an eye on that issue for any additional information. 😁
