[Resolved] Downloads pages – permalink problem

  • Hello!

Recently we started to have 404 trying to access our “single downloads” pages. This problem arises only on some of the installations, and very spontaneously.

It seems like the issue for this FAQ entry:

    Getting a 404 error?
To get rid of the 404 error when viewing a download, you need to resave your permalink structure. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click “Save Changes”.

    But this advice isn’t working.

Direct URLs, like website.com/?p=XXXX, are giving 404 as well.

What can be cause of it?

Most likely this is because your theme or a plugin is calling the flush_Rewrite_rules() function on the “init” action.

Deactivate your other plugins one at a time and save the permalinks after each to see if one of them is causing it.

Thanks, it worked. flush_rewrite_rules() is not found anywhere in plugins/theme, but now i can search what plugin is the reason.

Great, let me know if you find it.

I’ve found the conflict’s reason. It’s Custom Content Type Manager plugin (CCTM) – indeed, it flushes permalink rules.

    To fix it:

    1. Uncheck the checkbox “Flush permalink rules” in CCTM’s “Global settings -> Advanced”.
    2. On WP’s “Settings -> Permalinks” press “Save” to recreate permalink structure with ones defined by EDD.

So, the problem is solved. Thanks again for your help!
