• Hi

Everything was working fine until I upgraded to 1.6.2 (I think from 1.5.1). Now everything works on my local setup but not on the live server. I started getting a weird Bad Gateway 502 error.

So I ended up rolling back to 1.6.0 and then even 1.5.1, and now the download just isn’t starting on the live server.

Everything still works locally, but on the live server when you click the download link it redirects to the download page, but it just doesn’t trigger the download to start and goes back to the page with the link like it should do normally, but no download has started.

Tested the actual file downloads at their wp-content/uploads/ location and they download fine there…

    Any ideas?!

    Thanks

Are you sure the correct paths have been entered in your version of the download?

Can you check if you create a new download an upload a new file there if that works?

OK so I tried with a test download and then discovered that the endpoint wasn’t set to ‘downloads’ which is how I had the download setup. Also, for some reason the downgrade process removed the ‘download slug’ setting too. This is why the downloads weren’t triggering.

So everything worked again on 1.5.1. I then upgraded to 1.6.2 again hoping it would now work and it was just because those settings weren’t preserved during the update, but unfortunately I’m now getting the bad gateway error again.

    Thanks

Now reverted back to 1.5.1 again and getting the bad gateway error again even with this version…

Luckily currently only have 2 downloads and haven’t officially gone live, but probably going to have use something else because if this had happened on a larger scale it could have been a disaster.

    Thanks

While I understand why you downgrade, this isn’t supported. Constantly upgrading and downgrading will result in strange scenario’s. The bad gateway error might be a permalink problem. Could you try resaving your permalinks (under normal WP settings) while you’re on 1.6.2?

    Hi again

    Thanks for getting back.

Just tried resaving the permalinks but still getting the following error on one of the downloads…

‘502 Bad Gateway The server returned an invalid or incomplete response.’

(In fairness, I got this error first before I tried to downgrade, so seems to be a persistent issue.)

    Many thanks
