I’m creating a WordPress-WooCommerce web site allowing clients to purchase digital images and videos. After several tests the downloaded files keep coming in blank (47ko). Storage was tested on pCloud and Dropbox. Tried again by deactiving non-relevant plugins and reinstalling 2021 theme. No improvement. Any suggestions ?
For better assistance, can you provide screenshots showing the Downloadable products setting in WooCommerce > products? For screenshots, I recommend https://snipboard.io/ for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL(s) in your reply.
In the meantime, make sure that the “File Download Method” is set to “Force Downloads” or “X-Accel-Redirect/X-Sendfile”, depending on your server capabilities. Also, don’t forget to select the “Allow using redirect mode (insecure) as a last resort” option. More info: https://woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/
Thanks for your swift response. My “File Download Method” is set to “Force Downloads” and the “Allow using redirect mode (insecure) as a last resort” option is ticked. At best I get a corrupt file, at worse a blank one.
Kindly note, best to go ahead with selecting Redirect only, instead of Force downloads.
The Redirect only method is the required one, for cases like yours, where files are linked to services like Dropbox, and it is here to stay (link, for reference).
Note: we are aware of the issue with the notice that appears when the Redirect only method is selected. Feel free to check out the GitHub issue (link here), and subscribe to it, for receiving updates on its progress.
I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. We will be happy to help you further.
