  • I am looking to download a client’s WP site to work on it locally. I did not design the original therefore I do not have the theme chosen for the site.

I have downloaded all files, and imported the data base via the import/export in WP admin. But I am not allowed to select the theme used in the remote version.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks!

  • Typically a theme would be in a sub-folder of the wp-content/themes folder you downloaded from your client’s host.

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. The files are, in fact, in that folder.

Here is what I did in succession:

I backed up the remote site by downloading all directories and contents
I exported the data (posts, etc.) using the option in the remote admin area
    I then installed WP locally
I then placed all downloaded directories and files into the local root directory
I then imported the file that was exported from the remote site

When going to the local root directory, the posts are showing up, but with the ten twenty theme, and not the Sprout theme.

Did I miss a step somewhere? I appreciate your assistance.

Might review your wp-content/themes folder and make sure all is intact.
