Simple Download Monitor seems to have broken probably during last upgrade. Our users started complaining that they could not download epub files. Pdf’s are OK and I tested a .doc file which was also OK. Also the title no longer shows for any files. It is still possible to download an epub file by right clicking on download button and saving link but that is too complex/confusing for most users.
Using Version 3.9.16 of Simple Download Monitor. WordPress 6.1.1. with Shortcode [sdm_show_dl_from_category category_slug=”books” fancy=”2″]

Hi, the link above does not work. Have you made any changes in your site? For example: Did you update a plugin or your theme? Did you install a new plugin?

    Kind regards.

I have just tested the link from another computer and it seems to work fine from here. The page has been temporarily set to public so you can access it. (i.e. you don’t need to be logged in to the website). The website is running from a public server 24/7 so unless Google reCAPTCHA is somehow blocking you, I have no idea why the link is not working for you.
What happens when you try to connect to the website https://pinkpantheractivists.au ?
There was an automatic plugin update earlier today which happens quite frequently as there are many plugins on this website. I just checked the Simple Download Monitor plugin. It is still 3.9.16. The theme “Blocksy” also gets automatically updated from time to time Current version is 1.8.79
I just tried theme Twenty Seventeen. Same problem except with this theme, the title is shown as it should be.
Something else strange. I noticed that just one of the books “10 Days in A Mad house.epub” is downloading (no title display) but none of the other epub publications will download. Before this problem started happening they were all showing the title and all downloading OK with the same Blocksy theme.

Hi, is it safe to say that one of your updates has caused an issue on your site.

Something else strange. I noticed that just one of the books “10 Days in A Mad house.epub” is downloading (no title display) but none of the other epub publications will download.

The reason why I am saying this is because of your comment above.

I just tried theme Twenty Seventeen. Same problem except with this theme, the title is shown as it should be.

I am wondering if it is your theme causing this issue? And maybe a plugin as well. Do you know if your host has made any changes to your server?

    Kind regards.

The WP Media library may not handle that file type by default. You can try the following free addon to add support for it:

    https://simple-download-monitor.com/allow-more-file-types-to-be-uploaded-via-wordpress/

Another option is to try the following feature to see if that works better for your setup:
