Hi, do you have a cache plugin installed in your site? Does your host implement any caching system in your server?
Thank you

Hello! Thanks for the fast response.
My host doesn’t do any caching (DreamHost). I do have a caching plugin (WP Super Cache). However, I have cleared the cache several times and the problem persists. (both site and browser) I have disabled the caching plugin. I have also gone into troubleshooting mode, disabling all plugins other than Simple Download Monitor. But still the problem persists.
What do you suggest I try next?
Thanks!
Hi, I think those pages are cached somewhere in your site by other means. What happens if you disable and delete the plugin? Do you still see the pages in the search?
Then what happens if you install and enable the plugin again?
Kind regards

Hello!
The instant I delete the plugin, they disappear from the search.
As soon as I reinstall the plugin, they are back.
I really don’t think it’s a cache thing.
I can give you an admin login to look at the site if you like.
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: I have activated troubleshooting mode and the issue persists with all plugins deactivated except SDM

Can you find these pages anywhere in your site?

I’m not sure what you mean by “find them anywhere on my site.” They are the item upload pages created by your plugin. Of course I don’t link to them anywhere on my site; I didn’t even want to have them on the site! 🙂
If I click on them in the search results, I just get an empty page (with the item’s url) with the same “The admin of this site has disabled this download item page.” as the only content.
When I don’t select
Disable the single download page for this download item.
on the download item page, then they still show up in the search results, but they link to a visible page.
Please advise. I have this setup on a sandbox site, so please let me know if you would like to log in and take a look.
Hi, there is only one more action I can suggest.
Delete all the data related to this plugin from your database by clicking on Delete all data and deactivate plugin button. Useful when you’re uninstalling the plugin and don’t want any leftovers remaining.
Warning: this can’t be undone. All settings, download items, download logs will be deleted.
Let me know if the above helps you in any way.
Thank you

Well, If I’m going to do that, then I would probably just not use your plugin.
I’m not trying to be rude, but if we can’t figure out what is causing this then I don’t have the energy to re-create all of my download items, put them on all the pages they need to be on, only to have the problem repeat some time later.
Are you sure that whey you do a site search on a vanilla wp install you are not seeing the download monitor items come up in search?
I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your issue.

Thanks!!
I actually thought you were the developer! I would kindly suggest that in the future you check with the developer before you suggest that someone delete all of their plugin data. 🙂
Best wishes

You are correct, that is why I stated the following comment above.
