Hi there. I recently had to cancel my pro membership for Forminator but would like to continue using the standard version.

I can’t see any settings to switch back and it’s asking to update to the new pro version.

Can you let me know the best way to proceed please without loosing my saved forms.

    Many thanks,

    Mike.

    Hi @mikehindle

I hope you are doing good today.

After your membership was canceled, Forminator should act as a free version.

Could you describe in detail where Forminator asks you about the Pro version?

Also, does this make impossible to edit the forms or any other features?

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

Hi Kris, thanks for the reply.

I cancelled the membership a few weeks ago but it stayed as the pro version.

It now says new update available, install MPMU DEV Dashboard to update. I tried re-installing that then it simply changes the option to upgrade to upgrade.

If I delete the plugin and reinstall the standard version do you think that would work? Would my forms still be there? I have Uninstallation set to preserve.

    Mike.

    Hi @mikehindle,

It seems that there was a bit of misunderstanding before, the plugin will indeed need to be installed as free version after canceling Pro so it checks WP.org repository for updates, instead of our servers.

That being said, you can do this in multiple ways, but I do suggest creating a backup before doing any of them, just to stay on the safe side.

One is the way that you’ve described, remove the plugin while keeping the data on uninstall from Forminator settings.

Second would be to download the Free version, install it, deactivate Pro and activate Free, after which you can delete Pro.

You can also download the free version and upload its folder directly to your server under /wp-content/plugins/ folder. Remove pro version folder from there and then go to Plugins page in WP admin and activate free version.

And there’s also an option if you want to start fresh but keep your forms. This would include exporting your forms first and then delete Pro version while having it set to remove plugin data on removal.
Then install free version and import your forms there.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Predrag

Hi Predrag. That’s been most useful, thank you. I’ve now got it sorted. Thank you to you and Kris.

Much appreciated and have a great day.
