    Hi,

I’m testing on my site with the free versions of The Event Calendar Plugin and I would have questions to ask you:
Is it possible to create a page with the calendar and the possibility of dynamic search by category with the free version?
Can I display a personalized calendar, for example for one category only, with the Free version?

Also I have problems understanding how the free plugin works:

    (1) I see that the events page is https: // myurl / Events but I can’t understand how and where I can call it in order to be displayed (i.e. where do I enter that URL?)
    (2) Using the “List Events” Widget I can’t see the Month View even if in Events-> Settings it is the one set as default
    (3) I only have one page template for events: “Events Template” but when I create a page with this template the page shown is completely empty and displays nothing. Also strangely in Events-> Settings-> Display in the drop-down menu of the Event Model I see an additional template (“Default Event Model”) which is not present when creating a new page
    (4) reading the documentation I seemed to understand that I should copy the plugin templates to the folders of my child theme: is this correct or is this only needed if you want to make a customization? Or the copy must be made in any case otherwise the templates cannot be used?

    Thank you, Alessandra.

    Hi @filippettia
    Thanks for reaching out,

1- You can use the URL //your-site/events in a custom link if you want and you can also add the calendar as a menu item from Appearance->Menus. Here is an article that will help you with it.

2- The list widget will only show the a list of upcoming events, but it will not offer the ability to switch to a different view such as month. This is only possible from the main calendar.

3- There seems to be a confussion on how the calendar is displayed. You just need to create events from Events->Add new, those events are going to be displayed in the calendar, and in case you select an individual event it will be displayed using the event template. Summing up, there is no need to copy the template in your theme, nor change the setup for the custom template selection.

This guide may help you getting started with our calendar. Let me know if there is anything I’m missing.

    Best
    Santiago
