    I cannot see any obvious clues to indicate why this is occuring.

    To troubleshoot, can you check whether this also occurs when audio tracks are included on the page using WordPress’s built-in audio shortcode?

    The built-in shortcode looks fine, and it also looks fine if I set “manual CSS” and remove the plugin styles. Audio Album also looks fine when I switch to a different theme. So I guess the problem involves my theme (Write Pro by Themegraphy)? If I wanted to troubleshoot this further, do you have any idea where to look?

    Thank you, that is useful info.

    It appears that the issue is caused by this block in the theme’s stylesheet:

    button,
    input[type="button"],
    input[type="reset"],
    input[type="submit"] {
    	background-color: #e6e6e6;
    	border-bottom: solid 1px #ccc;
    	border-left: solid 1px #ddd;
    	border-right: solid 1px #ccc;
    	border-top: solid 1px #ddd;
    	font-size: 87.5%;
    	line-height: 1;
    	padding: 0.9em 1.5em;
    	text-shadow: 1px 1px 0 #fff;
    	text-transform: uppercase;
    	transition: .15s ease-in-out;
    }

    specifically the text-shadow property.

    Try removing this shadow for the audio tracks by adding the following CSS to the ‘additional styles’ section of the WordPress customizer:

    .track .mejs-controls > .mejs-button button {
        text-shadow: none;
    }

    It worked! Thanks for your help, and thanks for making the plugin.
