Since I installed the Google analytics dashboard, my Ghostery suddenly noticed a tracker from ‘doubleclick’ on my website. As I don’t want my website to send out suspicious cookies, I removed the google analytics dashboard. This solved the ‘problem’.

Can anyone tell me what this doubleclick-thing is? Is this always integrated in google analytics, does it have anything to do with my settings, or is my website hacked/infected by malware?

  • It’s all about the settings you’ve enabled.

FYI: Please take your time and try to read my full documentation for GADWP, as you can see here: Tracking with Google Analytics Dashboard, is explictly mentioned that:

For demographics and interests reports make sure you update your privacy policy and complete this checklist.

The first thing mentioned by Google in that checklist is:

When you enable Display Advertiser Features, you allow Analytics to collect additional information from the DoubleClick cookie (web activity) and from anonymous identifiers (app activity).
