Do you use WPML or any other translation plugin? Sometimes they make products duplicate, could you try disabling them temporarily to see if that makes any difference?

Could you try disabling modules one by one until the problem disappears to pinpoint which module might cause this issue. If after disabling all modules the issue still appears, try disabling the whole plugin as well.

I found it, the “Productafbeeldingen Module” causes the problems.
I saw this issue once before, it was due to compatibility issues with their theme. If you do not need Product Images module you can safely disable it and the issue will not happen. If you do need it, I would need you to temporarily switch it back on so I could write some CSS code to hide the duplicate images.
